This is a chunk of a larger video piece I created my during my senior year at Bennington College. The piece was designed unconsciously as a response to the tensions I was feeling between students at the school. Bennington can be an uncomfortable environment to define yourself in and, contrary to popular belief, students have little social breathing room. As a result, many cave in and leave. This video is evidence of a personal cave in. (although I obviously wasn't taking my self too seriously during the performance) The music was an attempt to combine the ascetics of early Sonic Youth with The Streets during a tense moment of a unsuccessful production in Austin Texas that damaged some very good friendships. The video reflects my mood swings during a few late nights spent at school after the whole ordeal. The image of the burning human is from The Passion of Joan of Arc.
