Mar 8, 2008 - Obsession for wealth parallels in many ways the obsession toward heaven. Both rely on a suspicion of if not outright hatred toward your fellow man. Many who put the goal (wealth or heavenly reward) above the deeds needed to achieve these goals is bound to live a life as a judemental misanthrope. The only difference is that wealth can be achieved in life and thus the shallowness of the reward can be experienced while still alive. Those "hell-bent" on heaven can live the bogus lie until they die.

Mar 8, 2008 - SPOILER-- still the most kind-hearted thing that Plainview did was to allow his son to leave that life even if he had to lie to him to do it.

Apr 5, 2008 - Actually I don't think he really lied. A part of him definitely used the boy to appear as a family man in front of his potential clients, at first anyway. Of course at some point he actually loved him. At the end when he realized he could not stop him from leaving his emotionally immature self could not handle it any other way so he became angry and hateful. That's my opinion anyway :)

Nov 22, 2008 - most reviewer are queer, you can tell because this kind of crique is more about the reviewer trying to appear deep than the movie. This is what queer is about. notice the speudo psychology-giveaway.
