The Notre Dame Folk Choir in the finale concert of their Ireland/Northern Ireland tour, Tuesday 3 June 1997, at Ennis Cathedral in County Clare. Violin: Mary Sy; Flute: Jenny Welde. This is the end of the videotape that Kristin Ahasic edited for the Folk Choir, with the addition of "Hallelujah, My Father," a sort of "standby" song of the Choir's, which we would use if a communion line was running long and we needed more music to fill a stretch of time in the service. As you can see, we were rather fond of the piece in its own right. By this time, though, Jen and I were outside the Cathedral. I had been so parched by the end of the concert that I had ended up following the crowd out of the church so that I could try to purchase a drink quickly, and Jen came along. Talking with people from the audience, we soon found ourselves in the company of a pair of Franciscan brothers, who we would spend time with the next day as we closed our tour with a private musical workshop for a cloistered community of Franciscan sisters or "Poor Clares," for whom we were only the second group of visitors in living memory, as Ennis locals excitedly told us. It was in the unlikely company of these two robed Franciscan friars, then, that we were guided to a nearby pub so that I could quench my thirst. It was only when I saw the videotape that I found out that we had missed this final group moment of the night.

Mar 1, 2008 - did you make a conscious effort to shake the camera as much as you could? Have you neve heard of a tripod?

Mar 2, 2008 - That's always driven me nuts, too: I've no idea who was holding her camera, but it's painfully distracting.
