Oct 13, 2008 - I wouldn't call it a rip-off. The only things that one could attribute to GOW would be the brutality of the game and the timed button presses, but those are finding their way into every game it seems like.

Oct 14, 2008 - There were games/books/shows/movies before GOW that had, "Gods betraying/backstabbing a champion." Really, GOW's storytelling is what made the story god. The actual plot wasn't that unusual.

Oct 15, 2008 - It is okay. I'd say rent it first- I think it is too short(only three islands) and the combat is repetitive, but it isn't bad. Rent it first. As for being better than Spartan, I only played Spartan once a long time ago. I like dit as much as I like this one, but Viking has massive battles a few times per island so it has that extra something.
