Oct 15, 2008 - depending on your style, once you purchase any of the mpc's, you always have the options to expand. Most producers i know of, dont add anything else when they have their mpc. They just use records to sample off of, and thats it. I for one like the midi capabilities of the mpc, but with the 5000, the ui and work flow changed so drastically, it really made the efforts more of an obstacle. I really hope they fix some of these issues soon.

Oct 16, 2008 - it really depends. technically you wouldn't need anything else, but if you were serious you would probably want some kind of software like pro tools for tracking and a keyboard or sound module for synth sounds

I make beats with an sp-404 and old school akai rackmount gear like s-950 and s-1000, only cuz their like 150 used lol. I'd love to own an MPC 2500 or MPC 4000 but I'd have to jack someone to get it.
