Concept artist "Android" Jones, famed for his contributions to games like Metroid Prime series, unleashes his shape-shifting demons to create a boss monster character. In this Q and A style interactive demonstration, recorded live at the 2008 Revelations Workshop in Seattle, Android covers Zbrush and Painter X, workflow and philosophy. By bridging the gap between the technical and the creative, this lesson will show you how aggressive shapes and a simple color palette can open up infinite possibilities to the adventurous digital artist. for more info see: http://dvd.massiveblack.com http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=119634 http://www.massiveblack.com

Apr 28, 2008 - WTF? Why does the painter X he's using has a square color wheel AND a triangular color wheel? And those custom palettes aren't nothing I've ever seen before. And yes some people are dick riding fanboys...

May 11, 2008 - Amazing at what? At putting shapes together!? Its a collage of shapes and colors. Its a short lived art cause its like those music programs like E-jay where u just throw some loops and rythm's together made by others... U guys in here are to easily impressed.

Sambucca Escribio:

Jun 24, 2008 - Ok so what exactly did he do? He created the composition in Z-Brush by making a collage of ready made shapes and then coloured everything in Painter? Were those shapes already available or did he create them himself? I'm not really that familiar with Z-Brush I just heard it was a 3D programme. I'm probably wrong.

GlucoseExplosion Escribio:

Jun 27, 2008 - Z-Brush lets you compose fully rendered 3d models for use in illustration, animation - anything you can put your mind too. It comes with ready made human constructs or you can do what Android did and compose your own human/monster/vehicle/thing out of the various tools, shapes and effects available. Its 3d modelling without the hassle of having to know advanced programming and maths.

Sambucca Escribio:

Jun 28, 2008 - I just spoke with a friend from college who's affiliated himself with the programme, he told me it was like sculpting. You can just pick points and extrude and mould them with alot less hassle than in 3D Max and other programmes. Is that true? It sounds like something I could get into, since I do enjoy modelling but hate the technical curve of 3D Max.

GlucoseExplosion Escribio:

Jun 30, 2008 - Yeh sculpting actually describes it pretty well. Like most new creative programmes it can be pretty frustrating to get to know but once you got it it can expand your work to no end.

Sambucca Escribio:

Jun 30, 2008 - Thanks for the info, will definitely check it out :)
