"The friendly ranger paused And scooping a bowl of beans Spreading them like stars Falling like justice on different scenes I'm damned Indeed, comrade I'm being bombed And all the people's faces turned strawberry blonde By the morning gate the friendly ranger waits For the sun making sure it's not late Just in time No need to fear Well, just in case And all the people are happy for another year And in the evening shade he climbs upon the sun Getting it's glow He goes on Singing this song To feel the goodness glowing inside To walk down a street with my arms about your hips, side by side To play with a sad eyed child till he smiles To look at a starry sky at night, realize the miles To see the sun set behind the steeple Clontarf Castle, no King, Queen or knightly people A coal fire and it's pouring rain To wave goodbye to a very good friend, never meet again Little thoughts bring little memories of you to me" *no video*

Feb 25, 2008 - my pleasure ;) ! i do have it, and i will post it today :D i like the more la latter stuff then the early stuff (maybe because i am more into hard rock - iron maiden, metallica, ac/dc, etc etc) but i do apreciate the first few albums to and like to listen to them.

Feb 25, 2008 - Thanks! I also prefer the harder Lizzy stuff, but am fascinated with their earlier art-rock material, too. My favorite album is "Fighting," which is something of a transition between the two versions.

Mar 18, 2008 - the later lizzy was sometimes a parody of the real poetry.. like that in this good honest song.. i'm sure Phil's heart was more in this but the philistine world drew him to the noise

Jun 2, 2008 - I love this song. This and "Honesty Is No Excuse" for me are the real highlights of the record. I got into Lizzy in the 1990s and really love the 76 - 79 period. Can't stand the White/Sykes years - Phil really did get to pushed towards the metal genre and it just wasn't him, plus the drugs didn't help. Listen to this stuff and wow - he had such a soul. Early Lizzy is pretty cool. Not much of a fan of Shades of Blue Orphanage though.

Jun 5, 2008 - the older I have become (now 42) the more I have gotten away from the later lizzy and into the first 4 albums. I mean the rhymes on later albums "like a rat from a pack he attacks from the back" are pathetic, where the stuff here is good enough lyrically to make my hair stand on edge (well whats left of it). but most people don't like the early lizzy or even know it and thats fine with me. it will be out little secret :)

Jul 8, 2008 - Phil evolved is all, there's great moments from all parts of lizzy's catalogue, Little Girl in Bloom is a beautiful bass driven song, the opening line to still in love with you is easily among phil's most potent single lines, but the solo from "please don't leave me" is as beautiful a guitar break as any in lizzy's catalogue, and sm off of black rose might be their funkiest work. the lyrics are solid throughout the years, with only the occasional hickup, but those were around early too.

Aug 26, 2008 - Good song but defintely you can tell here that Thin Lizzy are still in their experimental stage!

Feb 21, 2008 - Thanks a million! You're going to think this is a bizarre comment, but Lizzy's debut album -- this track in particular -- to me, at least, gives off a Radiohead vibe. I listened to "In Rainbows" on YouTube, and caught myself thinking, "Hey, this is a bit like early Lizzy." Do you have "Shades of a Blue Orphanage"?
