Brenda Martin is a Canadian woman who has been imprisoned in a Mexican jail without due process for over 2 years and at this point, her fate is in the hands of the Mexican Government. Brenda's family and friends have been desperately attempting to raise awareness of her plight, calling on the Canadian Government to ensure that she receives a fair trial. Brenda has tried to commit suicide several times in jail and it is without the support of your donations lacks the funds for legal support and basic hygienic needs. It is at the point that if the Government of Canada does not intervene, Brenda feels it is likely she will die in jail. Time is of the essence. Act now!

Apr 2, 2008 - Gimme a break! What about the American woman she put in jail? What is it with Canadian media only wanting to tell half the story? Where's the rally for Rebecca Roth?
SaveBrendaFund Escribio:
Apr 2, 2008 - The 'Save Brenda Fund' initially started in Brenda's home community of Trenton, Ontario. This is why the rally was geared towards Brenda, a Canadian.

Apr 2, 2008 - I understand that well enough. It just strikes me as odd how regardless of where people live, and the US is no different, the mainstream media can't resist interpreting certain facts instead of just reporting them. I wouldn't want to be Brenda for anything, but it's frustrating that for all the talk of 'sisterhood' in this case there are few sisters for Rebecca.

Apr 18, 2008 - I think there are, but like all things, it unfortunately takes time. Its taken us over two years to get to this point now - and the major media did not pick up on the story until 18 months into the case. Its unfortunate that some cases have gotten more attention than others, but we would not be here today without the media attention we have garnered. All these cases are very interconnected, though. Throughout the progress of this case we continually refer to other important cases.

Apr 22, 2008 - Re: Brenda Where is our Canadian government? Why so long to get to the bones of her case? And as usual the Mexican government is just as corrupt as ever. We were always leary of travelling to Mexico( we are world travellers) and now we will definitely never go there, and believe me we do have alot of family and friends who will never set foot in Mexico for this reason and other reasons we have heard about. ........Totally disgruntled!!!! from North Vancouver, B.C. Canada.

Apr 24, 2008 - She has been found guilty, no?
SaveBrendaFund Escribio:
Apr 24, 2008 - Yes, she has been found guilty in the Mexican Judicial System - something we are not very surprised about. We had been saying this for months, as if they acquitted Brenda they would be opening themselves up for law suits and an even more embarrassing situation than it already is already the case for the Mexicans. They have yet to provide a shred of proof publicly to explain their decision. Brenda will be transfered back to Canada, bringing her home.
