This is Ramli's Video Journey-Thoughts of Ramli series. Ramli Abu Hassan have been championing "To make Malaysia a World Class Nation with World Class Talents" since Dec,2005 and the Journey is still ON! Getting to World Class takes a long time it is not like doing it in a year or two,it takes lots of hard work,smart thinking,great leadership,timely investments and most of all committment by ALL to realize the mission. Getting to World Class like what Ramli's Guru,Prof.David Drennan had once said,is like climbing the ladders one at a time so that you will not fall or slip.Getting to World Class is also about FOCUS on things YOU do very well in your business.You cannot be World Class in everything just like the athlete in the Olympics,he/she must focus on his/her sport eg.100 metres or 400 metres or high jump or long jump etc.. Motorola wants to be World Class as champion of 6 Sigma (Elimination of Wastes)but GE also have shown great results in this area.Disneyland want to be World Class as far as Customer Satisfaction (Customer Focus) is concerned and also other Great Companies that always appear in the Fortune 500 lists etc.. Another point Ramli wants to highlight is the teachings of Dr.Philip B.Crosby. In his book "Quality is still free" published in 1996 which Ramli have a copy signed personally by Dr.Crosby on 1stApril,1996 when he gave a lecture in Kuala Lumpur,have clearly and repeatedly stated "Making Quality Certain" Dr.Crosby have reiterated that Making Quality Certain was to show that quality does not come about as the result of some particular way of dancing.People have to be helped to understand that they reside in a culture where the correct action and result are desired."Making Quality Certain" means that the basics have to become part of the woodwork.The way to prevent fire fighting is to not have fires. Ramli's mission in 2008,is to further promote and highlight this importance of "Making Quality Certain" and get rid of all those "management fads" that incur more actions but of no definite or concrete results that make Malaysia a World Class Nation with World Class Talents.
