Mar 6, 2008 - high compression. in the description it says they used 112 octane fuel, which you only would want but also need in a high compression engine...prolly 13:1.....not very street friendly, but it would run and sound great

Jun 5, 2008 - they got power from the heads and cam. high compression doesn't just produce rediculous numbers automatically.

Jun 5, 2008 - youre right! the right cam and heads are crucial. but it goes without saying. you can only get around 550hp with a small block on pump gas and no other help. randywyatt2000 was referring to this particular engine, which is a small block, but, without a blower or a turbo or nitrous there is no way it can produce 700+ horses without high compression...hence the 112 octane
