May 10, 2008 - Her autobiography explains it all. She spoke of not really being attracted to the role to begin. I believe she was also having serious sinus problems that was affecting her singing throughout her career. Also it was on Abbado's urging that she took the role. She felt since he was right about Lady Macbeth well Amelia. However, for me personally, I LOVE VERRETT no matter what she does.There was just too much precedence with the role.
